C-cation, Inc. Reaches Patent Accord with Comcast

RYE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2003--C-cation, Inc., www.c-cation.com, a privately held company located in Rye, New York, and Comcast Cable Holdings, LLC, the largest cable operator in the U.S., announced today that they have entered into a business agreement. As part of the agreement, the companies have resolved a patent case that initially involved AT&T Broadband. Comcast acquired AT&T Broadband in November of 2002.

The agreement extends Comcast a patent license from C-cation for "Passive HFC" Architecture.

"Our company is dedicated to the development of cutting-edge broadband technologies," C-cation's President Alexander Cheng, PhD said. "We have a suite of patented solutions to resolve the technological issues for the delivery of broadband services. Our solutions are attracting the attention of cable companies and cable equipment vendors," Cheng added. He noted that C-cation is currently developing a server software communication control module to integrate product offerings in order to provide guaranteed quality of service and available bandwidth. "We are excited that we now have an ongoing business relationship with Comcast. We look forward to deploying our other patented technological solutions to the cable industry."

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
